Excerpt from an interview with Jason Smith of Scenic Safaris.
I see you offer a two day, one night snowmobile adventure. Where do you do this and can you tell me a little bit more about it?
Certainly a two-day one night can be in Yellowstone National Park or in the Bridger Teton National Forest and in Yellowstone. The overnight components are very attractive but they take up a bit more planning because we’re getting into a bit more particulars with the guests. They have options that they can pick. Do they want the standard and economical overnight hotel or do they want to stay in the nicest place possible?
In Yellowstone we have several different options and at its different locations through the park. If they’re dead set they want to stay at the Snow Lodge, then we make reservations for the Snow Lodge. If they want to see half the park and then the next day finish the rest of the park, we do that as well. The advantage of the overnight component is you can get a little bit more in depth in the background and all of the intricate details of Yellowstone National Park and you can split that into two days and it makes it a little bit more of an immersed experience.
It’s a great time too because you know, whether you’re a newlywed couple or a group of college roommates that are getting together for one friend that’s getting married or what have you, it’s a way to have an amazing experience you’ve never seen before. Plus you get to meet a very interesting guide that has more information than you can remember and then put yourself into one of the most iconic locations I would say in the world and you get to do it for two days in a row.
What are the accommodations like?
We don’t own any lodging so we are held to the lodging at the different portals of entry from Yellowstone and the National Forest. We’ve got places that are fairly economical in price range and there your standard motel hotel set up with without getting very fancy. And then we also have four- and five-star accommodations that have the four course dinners and the three course breakfasts and people are asking what they can do for you at every turn.
That part is reliant on the guests wishes because the options are there. We just have to know what experience they want. It’s a totally customizable compartment. With overnights all the options are on the table and the people that want to stay in the very high-end luxurious place we need to know that first because dates do fill up quickly for those type of accommodations and likewise for the economical.
You’re not spending a lot of time in the room. Obviously with this two-day, one-night trip, you’re basically just putting your head on the pillow, taking a nap and getting back out there. There is definitely very limited hotel rooms. It’s not like going to a lot of big metropolitan areas where there’s hundreds and thousands of rooms. There’s about a hundred rooms in two or three different locations.
